Course details

The Gear Conversion course is a 2 hour bespoke lesson which can be tailored to the needs of the pupils. Up to 2 students to one instructor, you'll spend as much time as possible on the bike learning the skills of controlling the clutch with your left hand and changing the gears with your left foot.

Depending on how the lesson progresses and the instructors decision, you'll either spend the 2 hour course duration off-road or will progress to on-road riding if the instructor believes you are ready to do so.

This course is ideal for riders who have completed the CBT on an automatic scooter or wish to spend more time and instruction riding a geared bike.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to take a Gear Conversion course?

Some new riders decide to take learning to ride one step at a time and opt to complete their first CBT on an automatic scooter. If you plan to then ride a manual motorcycle, it's highly recommended you have professional lessons in how to do so, hence the popular Gear Conversion course.

What will I do during the Gear Conversion course?

The course is tailored to your needs. You'll focus all the time on bike control and handling, getting to grips with balancing, stopping, starting and turning with a manual motorcycle. If it's safe to do so, you'll go out on the roads.

How far in advance should I book?

Gear Conversion classes have a restricted number of places in each course. Due to the popular demand, you should aim to book at least 1 week in advance in order to get a convenient date.

I can't see any Gear Conversion courses in my area?

Not all of our instructors have their Gear Conversion courses live online. If you can't find a local Gear Conversion course to you, give us a call and we can arrange something for you.

Cancellation policy
